Employers connect to refugees job seekers at ISSofBC hiring fair

Over 130 refugee job seekers connected to potential employers Tuesday during ISSofBC’s 2nd Learn and Hire event at the Vancouver Public Library Central Branch.

35 Metro Vancouver employers from numerous industries such as construction, food and beverage and retail participated in the event which included presentations on hiring and retaining refugee staff in addition to the job fair designed for Government Assisted Refugees.

Several companies hired candidates on the spot while others scheduled onsite orientations and workshops for interested job seekers.

“Employers were glad they were invited to the event and several ended up with potential candidates and a big stack of resumes,” said Mary Tecson, ISSofBC Skills Connect for Immigrants Assistant Manager.

Mary would like to thank everyone for participating in the successful event.
