Eligibility
  • Peer Support Group Criteria:
  • Immigrant and refugee women 19 year of age and up
  • Peer Support Group Criteria: Immigrant and refugee women 19 year of age and up
  • Training Criteria: Immigrant and refugee women aged 24 and up with minimum CLB 5
  • Training Criteria:
  • Candidates must have an immigrant and/or refugee background and a strong desire to give back to their communities by assisting other immigrant and refugee women with the adjustment process
  • Training Criteria: Successful candidates must make a strong commitment to training and the facilitation of peer support groups

Activities

Peer Support Group:

  • 10-weeks long in your first language
  • be welcomed in a safe and confidential space
  • receive support for your settlement challenges
  • learn more about Canadian culture
  • build connections with resources in the community
  • share experiences and discuss common concerns

Peer Group Facilitation Training:

  • 100+ hours delivered over 14 weeks and taught by experts from various fields
  • Teaches skills to become community leaders and role-models
  • Graduates of the training go on to facilitate a 10-week support group with the assistance of ISSofBC staff
