ISSofBC MAPLE 2.0 and the Settlement and Integration Employment Program teamed up with 7-Eleven to showcase inspiring stories of employees who achieved their professional goals while working for the convenience store giant.
7-Eleven Human Resource Manager Danijela Jovicic and her team were also on hand during the September 15 event to conduct brief interviews for several Lower Mainland positions.
“Staff from the retail chain came to share their career development experience since immigrating to Canada and talked about management, assistant management and staff opportunities locally and throughout their 33,000 stores worldwide,” said Kim Abram ISSofBC Career Facilitator for the Settlement and Integration Program.
The 7-Eleven staff success stories included one from Danijela who came to Canada as an immigrant and started working for the convenience store chain at an entry level position and is now the Human Resources Manager.
“The managers who were there had different professionals background and started at 7-Eleven as a second job and then decided to leave their other jobs because the work environment and the incentive bonus program are really good,” said Ines Montoya Employer Relations Specialist for the Maple 2.0 Mentorship in Action.
The event, at the Coquitlam Library, was a great opportunity for over 15 ISSofBC clients with operational, retail or food service backgrounds to hear about the ins and outs of the industry in Canada and abroad.
