I’ve spent much of my career working in immigration and settlement, and one thing has always been clear to me: Canada’s future is deeply connected to how well we welcome and support newcomers.

A recent piece from CTV News highlights that immigration could soon account for all of Canada’s population growth. That’s a significant moment.

But beyond the numbers, this is about people. Families. Talent. Potential.

At ISSofBC, our vision is simple: we all thrive together in community. When newcomers are supported to learn English, find meaningful work, and build connections, it strengthens all of us — our economy, our workplaces, and our neighbourhoods.

Immigration isn’t just a policy conversation. It’s a nation-building one.

If we want Canada to thrive in the decades ahead, we must continue investing in inclusion, belonging and community capacity.
