We are delighted to announce the opening of a Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Clinic for our Government-Assisted Refugee (GAR) clients at our Vancouver office on Victoria Drive, from February 3, 2025. The clinic is currently located at a temporary location in Richmond.
The clinic is initially ONLY for GARs who will be referred to the clinic by our Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP) team. The clinic will offer initial post-arrival health assessments including follow-ups, and vaccinations so that GARs receive the medical care they need upon arrival in Canada.
The clinic will be open: Monday to Friday, 8.30 am – 5.00 pm, have its own telephone number and a medical office assistant (MOA) who will share the front desk with Angie and Katie, our ISSofBC service assistants.
In addition to the MOA, the VCH Health Clinic will include nurses and physicians.
We would like to thank VCH teams from Vancouver Community, Richmond Community and Regional Public Health who have worked together to make this possible.
Ana Fernandes, the manager of Northeast and Primary Care Centre will be the Operations Manager of the Care for Newcomers Clinic.
We look forward to welcoming our new partners and ensuring that this clinic is a place where refugees receive the care and support they need as they begin their new lives in Canada.
If you have any questions about this clinic, please contact Smadar Levinson at VCH (smadar.levinson@vch.ca) or Kathy Sherrell at ISSofBC (kathy.sherrell@issbc.org)
