ISSofBC ELSA staff shared their expertise among peers last week at BC’s premier teachers of English as a Second Language conference.
The annual conference, themed “Brain-Compatible Language Learning,” was organized by the Association of BC Teachers of English as an Additional Language (BC TEAL) and co–hosted by Douglas College.
During the two-day event, English Language Services for Adults (ELSA) industry movers and shakers had the opportunity to hold workshops and seminars focusing on new developments in ELSA and their areas of expertise.
ISSofBC staff presented four workshops highlighting the organization’s long-standing recognition as leaders in Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) lesson planning, implementing student portfolios and utilizing online tools.
In addition, ISSofBC ELSA staff had the opportunity to showcase their new lesson package aimed at helping students talk about and deal with pain when visiting a doctor’s office.
ISSofBC’s Claire Pinkett, Frances Clarke, Lisa Herrera, Janet Massaro, Caroline Pendleton, Shirene Salamatian, Erin Swayze, Janis Fair, Paul Carter, Andrea Szakos and Brad McKeage all attended and presented during the two-day event April 26-27 at Douglas College in New Westminster.
