It is graduation day in the Tri-Cities for over 50 immigrant and refugee kids who completed a six-week ISSofBC summer camp.
The purpose of the camp, generously funded by United Way of the Lower Mainland, is to bring immigrant and refugee children into a classroom setting to help them transition into school life and an opportunity to connect with other children.
The camp also incorporates activities such as art, drama, cooking, sports and time at the playground.
“Highlights for the kids were definitely making new friends, being involved in a new activity such as yoga, and our field trip to Science World,” said Program Coordinator Aman Burm.
During today’s graduation party students received special participation certificates and t-shirts they designed themselves.
“Woo-Hoo! A big congratulations to our 2016 Summer Program participants on your graduation today! Another successful summer with smiles all around,” Aman said.
