The LINC program, short for Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada, is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. It’s designed to help adult newcomers learn English, regardless of their current level of skill. Best of all, it’s free!
To Get Started:
Step 1 – TAKE AN ASSESSMENT
Before joining our English language LINC classes, you must complete a language assessment at one of the Assessment Centres below. Once you have completed an assessment, you will be given the information needed to register for our classes.

Step 2 – REGISTER FOR A LINC PROGRAM
- Gather the following documents (see instructions in LINC brochure and application form):
- Your Identification (Permanent Resident Card, or Government-Issued Proof of Status for those without a Permanent Resident Card)
- Your Canadian Language Benchmark Report
- Your Care Card
- Visit an ISSofBC location near you.
