The loan helped me finish my certification and find a job that matches my skills.” — Global Talent Loans client

Starting a new life in Canada is exciting, but continuing your career can be difficult. Many newcomers need to return to college to pursue further studies, retake exams, or obtain new certifications. If you find yourself in this situation, look no further!

The Global Talent Loans (GTL) program at ISSofBC supports permanent residents, naturalized Citizens, and granted refugees who want to reach their career goals in British Columbia. This program offers low-cost loans to cover the cost of training or re-credentialing and provides career and job search support. Whether you want to return to your old profession or start a new one, GTL is here to help you succeed.

Low-cost and flexible financial support

Education in Canada can be expensive, but GTL makes it easier. You can apply for a loan of up to $30,000 at a low-interest rate through our partner, Vancity Bank. You can use the loan for tuition, certifications, books, supplies, or even a laptop. The repayment plan is flexible — you can pay back the loan monthly over several years. You may also apply for smaller loans (up to 10 in total), depending on your needs, so you only borrow what you really need.

More than just financial help

When you join the Global Talent Loans program, you get more than financial help. You will work with a Case Manager who will support you step by step — helping you create a training plan, prepare your financial documents, and connect you with employers. You can also take free financial courses from Vancity Bank to learn more about money, credit, and budgeting in Canada. This support helps you not only pay for your training but also build financial confidence for your future.
