We’re excited to share an important update to the Career Paths program eligibility. The program is now more accessible to internationally trained professionals in British Columbia. You only need one year of pre-arrival work experience, regardless of your occupation. This change means more newcomers can get the support they need to continue their careers in British Columbia.
What changed?
Previously, eligibility depended on your occupation and years of experience:
- Regulated occupations required 1 year
- Unregulated occupations required 2 years (or 1 year if aged 19–30)
Now:
👉 Everyone only needs 1 year of pre-arrival experience, across all streams and professions.
This makes Career Paths simpler, fairer, and easier to access.
