ISSofBC Education Bursaries

We empower newcomers through our educational bursary award program. In 2024, we awarded 17 scholarships totalling over $52,000.

Our education awards

ISSofBC offers education awards, or bursaries, to support newcomers in continuing their studies in various fields at local institutions. They are available to ISSofBC clients, students, and volunteers. This year, with your support, we hope to raise even more funding for newcomers who want to build their lives in British Columbia.

Support today through two bursary award levels ($2,500 and $5,000) and three sponsor options: Presenting Sponsor, Lead Sponsor, and Supporting Donor.

“To be honest, this means a lot to me. As a refugee from Malawi…I couldn’t imagine I would come to Canada! When I saw this opportunity online, I said: Let me try this. My friend told me you are still new to Canada; it’s hard to make it…but I said no, this is part of my dream. I want to become successful in my career… This support is helping me to pursue a degree…which will allow me to help and give back to the community and invest in my future.”
