What We Do

If you’re a newcomer with professional experience but struggling to find work, Career Paths can help you re-align your profession to a career in BC by focusing services to your education, training and experience in:

Regulated occupations requiring an educational certificate and experience

Unregulated professions or alternative careers not requiring a license

Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants:

  • provides self-paced, flexible services
  • provides access to funded skills training and upgrading
  • helps you gain Canadian work experience
  • connects you with a dynamic support system and an expert team of Case Managers, Facilitators and Employer Relations Specialists
You can join if you are:
  • A resident of City of Vancouver and the Kootenay, Thompson/Okanagan and Cariboo North regions
  • Permanent resident within last 5 years
  • Three (3) years' pre-arrival experience in field (one year if 19-30 years of age)
  • Minimum CLB 6 for regulated professions
  • Minimum CLB 5 for unregulated professions
  • Pre-arrival experience
  • Underemployed and unemployed
  • Not receiving EI or BCEA

  • Prince George
  • Delivery partners' locations in Victoria (Intercultural Association of BC), Thompson-Okanagan (KCR Community Resources)

Activities

  • In-person and remote services available through online sessions
  • program is 20 months long for regulated professions; 11 months for unregulated professions
  • action planning tailored to your career goals
  • evaluation and assessment of your credentials
  • referral to occupation-specific language training
  • one-on-one job search support for your targeted occupation
  • funded skills training and upgrading
  • connections with mentors and employers
  • work placement and practicum opportunities
  • exploration of alternative careers
