Delta Controls is hiring a Software Developer in Test (SDT) to be based in our Surrey, BC offices (Cloverdale/Langley border). This is a full-time, permanent position to start as soon as possible.
About the position

The Software Developer in Test (SDT) is the expert in designing, developing and maintaining our test automation frameworks. The SDT plays a critical role in our product development team where they are helping create products to be installed in high tech buildings around the world.

We are searching for innovative and creative software developers who are passionate about creating quality software. You are an experienced software developer who is complemented by a software quality skillset. Your job will be to code automated solutions to test product. While everyone on our software QA team is expected to contribute to the development of automated test scripts, your major contribution is to take a step back and look for solutions to tough automated testing problems.

Our products span a wide variety of technologies which the SDT must quickly learn as they implement test and verification code. We have teams working in a variety of areas such as embedded systems/firmware, wireless, Windows applications, Apps, Web interfaces, LAN/WAN networks and database applications.

Responsibilities:
Work closely with test leads and developers to design test plans and strategies based on design documentation and requirements.
Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks and scripts across multiple product ranges.
Contribute to the creation of designs for production software with a focus on testability, robustness, and performance.
Provide training and support to other SQA Specialists in their efforts to script tests.
Ensures that product development teams are using best practices in software development.
Provide input and test reports on an ongoing basis.
Verify bug fixes are satisfactory on new builds.
Verify that new features are fully implemented and will meet our customer’s needs.
System specialist who acts as a resource to other departments on product functionality.
Regularly identifies usability problems and make suggestions for improvement.

Main skills required:
Web technologies: HTML, JavaScript, web services, XML, CSS, PHP
Selenium, Python, JUnit, NUnit, TestNG, etc.
Knowledge of automated and manual test methods.
Verbal and written communication skills are very important.
Strong analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot complex problems.
Familiarity with networking concepts. TCP/IP, MS/TP, Ethernet, RS232, wireless
Experience with Windows/Linux Servers.
Leadership to drive test automation projects to successful completion.
Thorough knowledge of software testing methods and procedures.
RDBMS, SQL, stored procedures. MS SQL Server is an asset.
Good understanding of embedded systems and small RTOS’s is an asset

B.Sc. in Computer Science or Engineering.
Minimum 3 years of experience programming a high-level OO language (C#, Java, C++, or C#)
Experience with software development lifecycles and processes.

Years of relevant experience required:2 years

Education required (other): B.Sc. in Computer Science or Engineering
