REQUEST FOR AN INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR

Immigrant Services Society of BC (ISSofBC) is one of the largest settlement agencies and a pioneer in immigrant and refugee services in British Columbia. We are looking for an independent contractor to provide targeted marketing support to attract prospective skilled immigrant clients to ISSofBC’s Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants program. Reports to the Associate Director, Career Services and liaises with the Senior Manager – Career Paths.
Conducts research on immigration trends in the Lower Mainland and analyses data collected by ISSofBC, including analysis on client demographics and high-traffic public locations for in-person marketing. Makes recommendations for the adjustment of marketing strategies or activities.
Researches best practices and tests new marketing initiatives. Executes value-added marketing initiatives that complement existing program activities on social media channels, email newsletters, and public advertising.
Works with vendors and/or produces high-quality marketing materials for the Career Paths program, ensuring they meet ISSofBC branding guidelines. Provides feedback on optimizing posters, brochures with copy-editing, calls-to-action, strategic use of photos and imagery. Generates and posts content on social media channels.
Creates templates, develops workflows, and maintains project planning documents with the Career Paths marketing team, including establishing and measuring return-on-investment for special initiatives and campaigns.
On occasion, attends ISSofBC in-person activities and events to coordinate photography, videography to build content with clients, employers, and community stakeholders.
Reviews and provides recommendations on event presentations (employer panel events, information sessions) that drives new prospective clients and maintains high client engagement.
While the contract focuses on Career Paths, the contractor must consider Career Services department objectives overall, as well as marketing and communications goals, guidelines, approach to content and measurement across ISSofBC. The contractor will have regular check-ins with the central marketing and communications team.
- Bachelor’s Degree in business or marketing, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Experience in project management preferred.
- Excellent organizational, presentation and communication skills are required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in establishing initiatives and processes in outreach.
- Strong creative and innovative thinking, problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional writing and editing abilities, including the ability to craft copy in program materials in an accessible and engaging way.
- Strong interest in working in a values-driven organization that prioritizes inclusivity, diversity, and transparency.
- Possession of and the ability to maintain a clear provincial criminal record check.
40-50 hours per month, effective on or about September 2022 until March 31, 2023.
