We are currently looking for an energetic and friendly IT Systems Technician to join our IT team. Reporting to the Director of IT & DevOps, you will provide maintenance of BBTV’s computer desktop and Windows server environment by resolving problems, installing hardware and software solutions, and supporting the internal IT Helpdesk.

We operate in a busy environment where an ability to adapt and prioritize is essential for success. Typical tasks include end user support, performing PC maintenance, upgrades, and configurations. The IT Systems Technician strives to create effective solutions to ensure we operate at the most efficient level. As an enthusiastic member of the team, you will also get the opportunity to learn more about AWS and other cutting-edge solutions.

Responsibilities:

Strong customer service and problem-solving skills including the ability to provide diligent, prompt, and courteous responses to users
Respond quickly and effectively to user requests
Monitor Service Desk for tickets assigned to the queue
Modify configurations, utilities, software default settings, etc. for the local workstation
Onboard new hires / off-boarding
Install and configure new workstations, peripheral equipment, and software
Maintain inventory of all equipment
Perform timely workstation hardware and software upgrades as required
Assist with projects and tasks as needed
Ability to follow corporate policies and procedures in regards to daily operations
Team player with multi-tasking ability and a desire to learn new technologies
Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation
Participate in the definition of standards, guidelines, best practices and metrics as directed
Assist with tuning performance and ensure high availability of infrastructure
Contribute to and maintain documentation for systems, processes, procedures and infrastructure configuration

Requirements:

Analytical thinking with the ability to see the big picture
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple tasks and priorities

Able to communicate in a professional manner with co-workers and team members
Keen to learn through on the job training and personal study
Good time management and priority handling
Understanding of database technologies such as MySQL and PostgreSQL
Post-secondary training in systems administration or degree in computer science.
Minimum 3 years experience in a related IT field
