Learning English is one of the most important steps newcomers take when building a life in Canada. Whether you’re preparing for work, navigating everyday situations, or connecting with your community, strong language skills can open new opportunities.

That’s why we’re excited to introduce LearnEnglish, ISSofBC’s newly redesigned website dedicated to supporting newcomers to improve their English skills. Formerly known as Janis ESL, the platform has been refreshed with a new name, a modern design, and an improved user experience that makes it easier to access learning tools and resources.

A variety of free resources

LearnEnglish offers a wide range of free resources, including activities, videos, exercises, and self-study materials designed to support learners at different stages of their English journey. Whether you’re studying independently or attending language classes, the website provides practical tools to help you build confidence in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Looking for even more support? Eligible newcomers can take the next step by enrolling in ISSofBC’s free Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program. LINC offers online and in-person English classes, flexible schedules, and additional supports to help learners succeed. The program supports newcomers to develop the language skills they need for daily life, employment, and community participation in Canada.

Visit LearnEnglish today and discover free resources to support your language-learning goals. If you’re eligible for LINC, explore how free English classes can help you progress even further.
