Resilience and Reinvention: Wenbin Li’s Path to Business Systems Analyst in BC

Arriving in British Columbia from China in 2022, with a Master’s Degree in Information Systems and over 22 years of experience as an analyst and consultant, Wenbin Li, as many newcomers, faced some initial challenges, including setbacks in four job interviews.

In the year of 2023, Li joined the ISSofBC Career Paths program and within the first two weeks of the program, he worked with the Career Paths team to identify the role of Business Systems Analyst as his career goal. Our program’s team can assist newcomers with credential evaluations and obtaining BC licenses, regulatory body, and association memberships, skills and course funding, job search support, work placement opportunities, connections to BC employers, access to BC mentors, and more.

“(…) I gained confidence through the learning process. I attribute much of my success to the well-designed program and the job opportunities recommended within ISSofBC. Martin, part of the ISSofBC Career Paths team, meticulously reviewed and submitted my resume to employers, significantly enhancing its visibility to HR professionals.”

Taking an advantage of the Occupation-Specific Language Training that our program offers, Wenbin also dedicated three months to improving his English skills, achieving an advanced proficiency level. The combination of his dedication and the ISSofBC support, led Li to secure a position of Business Systems Analyst in the City of New Westminster.

The ISSofBC Career Paths program supports newcomers in British Columbia connecting their international experience and skills with job opportunities in Canada. Whether they’re in construction, engineering, technology, or have any other profession, our team is dedicated to making their transition to a Canadian career as easy as possible.

As the program’s team did with Wenbin, Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants supports eligible clients to successfully bridge their pre-arrival profession to the BC Labour Market.
