Are you new to Canada and preparing for your citizenship test? Understanding the history and cultures of Indigenous Peoples is essential for citizenship. Join our webinar led by a LINC English Program instructor who understands the learning needs of Korean immigrants. This engaging session offers valuable insights to help you navigate this important topic.

What You Will Learn:

INDIGENOUS PEOPLES AND CULTURES: Discover the three distinct and constitutionally recognized groups—First Nations, Inuit, and Métis—each with unique traditions and histories.

THE DISPLACEMENT OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLES IN CANADA: Learn about Canada’s legacy of colonialism, the history of government policies, and why Indigenous peoples hold unique rights and a special relationship with the federal government today.

INDIGENOUS PEOPLES TODAY: TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION: Understand the journey of Truth and Reconciliation, including the TRC’s Calls to Action, the UN Declaration, and the significance of National Indigenous Peoples Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

MOVING FORWARD: Honour​​​​ Treaty relationships, strengthening partnerships with Indigenous peoples, and advancing Truth and Reconciliation through respect, collaboration, and recognition of Indigenous lands and rights.

Eligibility Criteria:

❑ Permanent Resident (PRs)

❑ Protected Person, as defined in S.95 of Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Protect Act (IRPA)
