Feliz aniversário, 記念日おめでとう, 周年快乐, ครบรอบปีที่ มีความสุข, alles gute zum jubiläum—this is happy anniversary in five languages representing the diversity of students who have walked the halls of the ISS Language and Career College of BC (LCC) over the last two decades.
Over a hundred LCC students, staff and friends celebrated the college’s 20th anniversary January 15 at ISSofBC Terminal with pizza, activities, speeches and cake.
“Thanks are due to all the people who were vital to our success, including our marvelous and committed instructional coordinators and teachers, hardworking registration staff, supportive staff from other programs who referred clients and collaborated on many initiatives, and of course to our wonderful group of volunteers,” said Bonnie So LCC Division Manager.
LCC began on Jan. 16, 1995 with one classroom and 12 students. Since then it has grown to the current multi-faceted ESL and skills-training college hosting more than 2000 students each year from all around the world including Brazil, Japan, China, Thailand and Germany.
“The past 20 years have brought us change and many new things. However one thing that has not changed and will not change is how proud we are of LCC, its staff and its teachers, and how honoured we are to work here and teach all of you,” said LCC ESL Teacher Roxanne Heichert in an anniversary newsletter addressed to students.
