Maple Ridge Volunteer Connections showcases inspiring stories from clients

ISSofBC’s Maple Ridge Volunteer Connections Program showcased inspiring stories from clients who found their dream jobs during last Friday’s Meet & Greet Networking Event.

Maya Lanto, a former client of ISSofBC’s Skills Connection, is currently working as a corporate financial analyst. She shared her journey as a newcomer to Canada in her speech “How I landed my dream job.”

“Her story was powerful and inspiring, and she gave the detailed steps new immigrants could take in their job search. Her perseverance and positive attitude were encouraging,” said Yumiko King, ISSofBC Volunteer Connections Facilitator in Maple Ridge.

In addition, the event hosted a panel of four immigrants who successfully found gainful employment – graphic designer Isabel Balagat, administrator Tess Tuiza, financial coach Anna Li, and self-employed/business person Naveen Sharma. Each of the guests shared valuable tips on how they landed their jobs and answered questions from the audience.
