LINC teacher is ISSofBC’s first 30-year service awardee

LINC teacher Janet Massaro made history when she was honoured last week for chalking up 30 years of service at ISSofBC’s annual All-Staff Meeting. Close to 300 of Janet’s colleagues gave her a rousing standing ovation when she went onstage to receive her award from CEO Patricia Woroch.

Admired and recognized by many for her singular passion for teaching, and her expertise in helping the most challenged newcomer learn English and gain confidence using it, Janet thanked her colleagues for “making me a better teacher,” adding she wouldn’t have made it this far without the support of her fellow LINC teachers. She also credited her colleagues in settlement and employment services with sharing knowledge that contributed to her work as an ESL instructor.

“Janet’s services the last 30 years contributed to the success of our organization,” said CEO Patricia.

Janet led 28 service awardees in being honoured October 30, including 25-year service awardees Ewa Karczewska, Bonnie So, and Katherine Tse. Five staff were recognized for 20 years of service, one for 15 years, nine for 10 years, and 10 for five years.
