Newcomer Employment Week September 10 to13 connected employers, service providers and job seekers with a diverse line up of events to help immigrants reach their employment goals in the Tri-Cities. The week boasted over 30 employment-related activities hosted among local service providers in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody including ISSofBC through the Tri-Cities Local Immigration Partnership.

ISSofBC delivered a number of informative and well-attended workshops including topics on leveraging social media in job search, learning about the hidden job market, understanding the construction/engineering/IT sectors, and gaining insight into what conversation are like in the workplace.

In addition, ISSofBC staff hosted a busy hiring event at the Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam on the final day featuring over 30 employers from various industries.

Hats off to all organizations involved in the successful delivery of the first Tri-Cities Newcomer Employment Week.
