Today, April 15, 2025, ISSofBC, along with over 90 community organizations, business groups, and others from across Canada, is calling on all our federal leaders to renew a positive vision for immigration that is unifying, creates shared progress, and focuses on our collective benefit and a better future.
Ahead of the Canadian federal elections on April 28, we hope to raise the importance of building a national immigration system that benefits all Canadians, old and new.

Immigration has long been at the heart of Canada’s success, strengthening our economy, enriching our communities, and shaping our identity as a welcoming, inclusive nation. But today, trust in our immigration system is faltering, and with it, the promise that Canada represents.
We can’t take our global reputation or future prosperity for granted. To thrive, we need an immigration system that is fair, responsive, and aligned with the realities newcomers face. We must attract top global talent, support the regularization of those already contributing to our economy, and ensure newcomers can access housing, healthcare, and education.
At the same time, we must resist anti-immigrant rhetoric, strengthen humanitarian programs, and define success not just by numbers but by outcomes for people and communities.
This election, we call on all federal party leaders to commit to a renewed vision for immigration—one rooted in fairness, coordination, and shared prosperity. Over 90 community and business groups across Canada have already joined this call. It’s time to rebuild trust, reaffirm our values, and shape a future that works for everyone.
