When you work in recruitment, you learn a lot about what makes a successful candidate. But navigating your own career can offer a very different perspective.
Monorme had been living in Canada for nine years when she began her third job search. This time, she wanted to approach the process more intentionally.
“I wanted to make the most of it by exploring options that would not only benefit me in the short term, but also support my long-term career growth,” she says.
Already familiar with ISSofBC programs, Monorme explored the organization’s website and discovered B-Hired.
“Enrolling turned out to be one of the best decisions I made, as it truly redirected my job search in a meaningful way.”
Seeing the job search from a new perspective
With professional experience in talent acquisition, Monorme was already familiar with many of the strategies candidates use in their job searches. What she found valuable about B-Hired wasn’t simply learning another set of job search techniques.
It was the opportunity to look at her own career from a different perspective.
“As an early-career professional, I believe in continuous growth, which often requires shifting our mindset,” she says.
Through B-Hired, Monorme connected with people from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds. The experiences and perspectives shared within her cohort became an important part of her own experience.
She also gained greater confidence and began paying more attention to the smaller aspects of mindset that can influence how someone navigates not only a job search, but professional challenges more broadly.
Having an external perspective on her job search materials was particularly valuable.
“The team was incredibly supportive and always available to provide thoughtful guidance,” she says.
Building skills and connections for the future
B-Hired also gave Monorme the opportunity to complete courses related to her professional field, expanding her knowledge and introducing new perspectives she could carry forward in her career.
The relationships she developed were equally important. Monorme built strong connections with other participants and has remained in contact with many of the people she met through the program.
Those experiences aligned with what she had been looking for from the beginning: not simply resources for her immediate job search, but knowledge, skills, and relationships that could continue to support her professional development.
From candidate to Talent Advisor
By the end of B-Hired, Monorme had secured a full-time contract role. Today, she works as a Talent Advisor at Synopsys, where she supports full-cycle recruitment for early-career talent, including interns and new graduates, across multiple business groups within the semiconductor industry.
There is a fitting connection between where her B-Hired experience began and where her career has taken her.
After approaching her job search with a renewed perspective, Monorme now works with people taking their earliest steps in their careers.
Looking back, she says the knowledge and relationships developed through B-Hired extend far beyond a single job search.
“The knowledge, skills, and connections you gain will stay with you throughout your career.”
For Monorme, B-Hired became more than a step toward her next position. It became part of how she approached the next stage of her career.
