About the Position

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and detail-oriented Digital Communications Specialist to contribute new ideas and help design, iterate and execute our internal and external strategy. The Digital Communications Specialist will oversee the marketing and communications, and support fundraising for ISSofBC with the support of the Marketing Specialist and Director of Communications.

 

The Digital Communications Specialist will work with and support the Marketing Specialist who oversees the marketing of ISSofBC’s LINC, Settlement, and Employment programs. They will also work with the Director of Communications who is responsible for supporting the successful implementation of organizational strategic and operational goals with effective, timely, and inclusive communication and marketing activities. They will ensure the successful implementation of communications and marketing goals and outcomes, managing all resulting workflows and content.

How You’ll Make a Difference

Fundraising

  • Develops and implements a donor recognition program.
  • Maintains and builds strong donor relationships.
  • Leads CRM management and coordinates with the finance department regarding generating reports.
  • Guides donors in the planning and execution of fundraising initiatives.

 

Marketing and Communications

  • Website updates and content generation.
  • Uses Canva and other apps to research, create, and schedule social media posts and plans. Exhibits excellent writing, story-telling, editing and visual skills. Stays up-to-date with the work and achievements of all key people in ISSofBC’s community and highlights their stories.
  • Monitors and moderates public interactions with ISSofBC’s social media platforms.
  • Creates and executes traditional and online marketing campaigns for ISSofBC with the support of the Marketing Specialist and Director of Communications.
  • Keeps up-to-date with the latest channels and best practices for digital marketing and communications.
  • Monitors, analyses, and reports on web and social media analytics.
  • Edits and creates short videos and as needed.
  • Assists with copywriting, proofreading, and designing/formatting of content.
  • Designs and provides training for non-program individuals participating in ISSofBC sponsored digital events, e.g., ISSofBC Board members and bursary applicants.
  • Initiates and sets up videoconferencing platforms for organizational meetings.
  • Provides promotional support to major organizational events including the annual All-Staff Meetings, the Annual General Meeting, and other special events.
  • Assists in coordinating news media conferences and Welcome Centre location tours for a broad range of visitors, including local and international government officials.
  • Initiates and coordinates external vendor relationships (i.e., graphic designers, printers, and a social media agency).
  • Manages vendor payments and creates and manages credit card requisitions.

 

What You Bring

As a communications and marketing specialist with a post-secondary degree in communications or marketing, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable to the employer, you bring with you a minimum of five (5) years of experience in increasingly progressive and challenging positions with experience in delivering measurable marketing and communications results. Experience in the not-for-profit sector, a creative agency, as well as / or experience in working with target populations representing a diversity of languages, digital literacy and ethnicity is considered an asset.

  • Demonstrated ability in managing website content using content management systems (CMS), and implementing updates using WordPress.
  • Strong data research, analysis and evaluation skills.
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to work collaboratively and respectfully across all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders including donors, media and government representatives.
  • Diverse lived experiences of immigration, multiculturalism, multilingualism, etc. an asset.
  • Is in possession of and can maintain a clear provincial criminal record check.

 

ISSofBC Value Proposition

  • Role salary range: $31.62 – $41.32 per hour.
  • Expected starting range: $ 31.62 – $33.55 per hour. Dependent on education, training, experience, and internal equity.
