We’re looking for an Accounting Assistant to join our growing Finance team!

Responsibilities include:

Processing payroll/benefits, reconciling of payroll and benefits accounts
Preparing T4’s, processing Workers Compensation
Coding, totaling, entering, verifying and reconciling transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, cheques, invoices, cheque requisitions, credit card reconciliation and bank statements
Preparing tax filing reports including GST/HST, PST, US State taxes
Bank and merchant account reconciliations
Reconciliation of GL accounts
Assisting in month-end and year-end reporting procedures
Preparing documents related to accounts such as inventory reports, account statements and other financial statements
Tracking and auditing petty cash
Processing employee expense reports
Updating, verifying and maintaining accounting journals. month end journal and adjustments entries
Preparing and coordinating deposit activities including bank deposits
Maintaining up-to-date, complete and systematic filing systems to support bookkeeping and financial records
Performing other related clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, faxing and photocopying
Providing backup to Accounts Payable including receiving, verifying and posting invoices on a daily basis, following up with vendors on invoice discrepancies, preparing batches of invoices for payments, inputting payments of invoices into Quickbooks
REQUIREMENTS
1 – 3 years experience in accounting and payroll.
Strong knowledge of accounting, including GL account classifications.
Associate degree or diploma in accounting, finance or related field is an asset.
Excellent computer skills.
General understanding of computerized accounting systems.
Excellent working knowledge of MS Word, Quickbooks and Excel.
Experience in Beanworks is an asset.
Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting and bookkeeping principles and procedures.
Accuracy and attention to detail while working under tight deadlines.
Organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
