Some of the biggest fans of Halloween at ISSofBC are the children of our LINC students enrolled in our licensed preschools in Richmond and Vancouver. We wanted to share some of the fun they had this Halloween!
Ana Delgado, our Preschool Manager in Vancouver, coordinates the Halloween celebrations. She explains that celebrating the day is part of their “child-led curriculum that places children’s interests, curiosities, and voices at the heart of our learning environment.”
For the children in our preschool, Halloween is a meaningful opportunity for exploration, creativity, and connection, which helps them feel seen and heard and supports their sense of belonging, especially for families who are new to Canada.
Participating in culturally significant events like Halloween can foster a deeper connection to their new environment, helping both children and parents feel more integrated into Canadian life. It opens up conversations about traditions, encourages community engagement, and allows families to share their own cultural perspectives, enriching our collective experience.
Ana’s ultimate goal is “to create a space where children feel empowered to lead their learning and where families feel welcomed and included. Halloween, when celebrated through children’s curiosity, becomes a bridge between cultures, between home and school, and between imagination and understanding.”
