The Job Profiles for Immigrants to BC – can help you understand how your occupation is practiced in British Columbia. The guides also include information on the steps you can take to find a job that matches your skills, training and experience. Many of these steps can be taken before you arrive in BC.
Career Cruising – is a web-based career exploration and planning tool for exploring career and education options. Skilled Immigrant Infocentre Employment Guides – Compiled by the Vancouver Public Library, this database contains employment guides on 71 skilled trades and professions including job descriptions, employment outlook, salary expectations, professional associations, qualifications and job search.
National Occupational Classification (NOC) – Compiled by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, this database provides descriptions of more than 40,000 jobs found in Canada, sorted into 500 occupational groups, and offers a matrix based on skill levels and skill types.
Occupational Guides For Immigrants in BC – Compiled by WelcomeBC, this database includes overviews of more than 60 regulated and non-regulated skilled professions and information on job duties, wages, qualifications and helpful job search suggestions and links to industry associations.
Service Canada-Specialty Job Sites – Sorted by job specialty, includes links to websites and information.
WorkBC – Information about BC’s population changes, job trends, economy, regional statistics and labour market snapshots.
Working in Canada – Federal online resources that offers users free occupational and career information i.e. job opportunities, educational requirements, main duties, wage rates and salaries, current employment trends, and outlooks. Industry Training Authority of BC – (ITA) leads and coordinates British Columbia’s skilled trades system.
