ISSofBC outstanding partners recognized

ISSofBC staff celebrated the organization’s dedicated employer partnerships Monday morning by recognizing their business partners’ contributions towards helping new immigrants in British Columbia.

The breakfast event, hosted by ISSofBC’s Employer Solutions at the Delta Burnaby Hotel, acknowledged the contributions through the “Outstanding Partner Awards” in small, medium and large company categories.

A total of 39 companies attended the early morning event which also included presentations on the newly announced Canadian-B.C. Job Grant, updates for employers on Citizenship and Immigration Canada and myths and facts about hiring newcomers.

“Considering this is the first employer appreciation event hosted by ISSofBC, it’s very impressive to see 100 percent attendance from our outstanding awardees and our long-time partners,” said Employer Solutions Coordinator Mary Tecson.

During the awards ceremony, Mary commented on the generous support from ISSofBC’s employer partners and presented 10 companies with plaques for their outstanding contributions.

“Congratulations to all our awardees and thank you for your continued support,” Mary said.

The companies included Canadian Western Bank, Fraser Valley Engineering Ltd. Maxxam, Pizza Hut, RBC, Safeway, Unitrend Plastics Manufacturing Ltd, Vancity, VIA Rail Canada and ZE Power Group Inc.
